Hooray for post-drawing editing (however minor it may be)!

Here are three more characters in my Shangri-Land universe. Aside from all being sort of mentors to the main character, they don't really have anything to do with one another- I just like filling up a page, and hate wasting an upload on only one character :p

Top center is the dragonfly, Tobi-Take-Tonbo. He is Daimyo-KoiKoi's best friend and traveling companion, always fluttering right by his side. Tobi is a wise guy-- wise because he knows the ins and outs of the world and how to fly like an ace, but also because he's a bit of a smart aleck asshole. Like real dragonflies, he is friendly with everyone, yet he often pushes his luck when it comes to his enemies. Legend has it that Tobi was once a real dragon before being turned into the bug that he is now. Maybe that's why KoiKoi keeps him around?

Bottom left is the cicada, LuXian-Semi. He is primarily based on Lu Dong-Bin, one of the Eight Immortals from Chinese mythology. Therefore, he is a Taoist sage, swordsman, and alchemist. Because cicadas live for many years underground and shed their skin, they are said to be immortal. LuXian takes full advantage of this ability and sheds his skin to escape injury and death. The bug's iconic hum can be heard in LuXian sharpening his double-edged sword (the demon slayer). He is a calm, collected character, who helps to keep Shangri-Land pure.

Bottom right is the raven, Ma'Kaw-Karasu. He is a talented shape-shifter and trickster. Ma'Kaw is the youngest in a clan of Tengu that patrol the treetops. They often kick him out because his foolish nature contrasts with their own serious business. Ma'Kaw is mysterious and confusing in his ways, often speaking in riddles and acting without rhyme or reason, or so it may appear. The bugs here don't have to worry about him eating them, though, for Ma'Kaw hungers only for fish. But he would never go so far as to consume close colleague KoiKoi... or would he?!

Trivia time: a "Taketonbo" is a small bamboo toy that flies when spun between the palms of your hands; LuXian's cloak form comes from an origami cicada; and Ma'Kaw's design draws heavily from Northwest Coast Native American masks and blankets.

Ah! They are all so cool. I love how tiny yet detailed they are, without having too much stuff going on in their design.
