Super Smash Bros Yoshi Sculpture

Yo, yo! We're back today with another Super Smash Bros sculpture- Yoshi, the second Mario series character seen in this set. Yoshi is another of my most beloved characters outside of Kirby. Yoshi's Island for SNES is one of my all-time favorite games. Anyhow, here I have depicted Yoshi a little differently from his official art render... I'm not sure why, but the design they went for reminded me of adorably annoying Yoshi seen in the 1990's Super Mario World cartoon by DIC Animation. That thought swayed my modeling of the character to reflect the hand-on-cheek pose he strikes in the opening theme song to that show. Yoshi's design has undergone an incredible change throughout the Smash games- from appearing awkwardly lizardlike in the early series to more upright and cartoony in the latter entries. Also, the designers could never figure out just how to sort the red spines along his back/head just right, so you end up with the halfassed attempt seen here.
